The
Inci

The INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetics) is the list of substances that contain a product.
Generally it is on the back of the packs and must be placed by law.
The INCI even if it does not report the exact doses of the cosmetic recipe (for industrial secret), however, helps us to understand in general the doses of the substances that we will then use on us.
The first ingredient of INCI is the substance present in the greatest amount in the product followed gradually by the ingredients used in smaller quantities.
At the end of the list there are all those substances that are prone to very low percentages (less than 1%).
The INCI nomenclature contains some terms in Latin (referring to botanical names and those of ingredients present in the pharmacopoeia) while the majority is in English, except the word Parfum which is in French.
In the case of colorants, the numbers are used according to the Color Index (for example CI 45430); hair dyes are an exception, which must always be indicated with their English chemical name.
Therefore, let's get used to always reading the INCI of any product before buying it.
