The name nim in Italy also known as neem, according to the English transliteration, is a tree (Azadirachta indica) of the meliaceous family native to India and Burma.

​

It is one of the three species of the genus Azadirachta.

​

It has many medicinal properties so that in India they call it "the village pharmacy".

​

For centuries, Indians have resorted to this plant to treat pain, fever and infections.

​

At the beginning of each year many Hindus eat a few leaves.

​

In addition, the teeth are cleaned with its twigs, skin disorders are treated with the juice obtained from the leaves and they drink the infusion as a tonic.

​

The Neem, reaches 30 meters in height and about 2.5 meters in circumference.

​

Since it rarely loses its leaves, it provides shade throughout the year.

​

It grows fast, requires little care and survives well in poor soils.

​

The Neem can be useful to people also in other ways.

​

 The seeds and leaves contain compounds that have antiseptic, antiviral and fungicidal properties.

​

According to some, it could be effective against inflammation, hypertension and ulcers.

​

It is said that medicines derived from Neem extracts combat diabetes and malaria.

​

Among the other possible benefits, the following should be considered

Neem powder can also be used on hair to remove impurities present on the scalp.

Strengthens the hair, stimulates regrowth, gives vigor and shine to the hair.
