In Ayurveda Medicine the Manjistha plant is a very precious herb.

​

In nature there are two types of madder.


The Rubia Cordifolia known in Ayurvedic medicine as Manjistha and Rubia Tinctoria known as Garanza.

Rubia Cordifolia for Ayurveda Medicine has many beneficial properties including those for skin and hair.


Charaka, an ancient medical sage, called her "varnya" or the herb that improves complexion, reduces fever and is a valid detoxifier.


The word Manjistha means "bright red" for its affinity with the circulatory system.


For Ayurveda Medicine, Manjistha is able to purify the blood.


The powder of the roots has been used since ancient times as a natural dye for fabrics and hair.


In addition to having dyeing properties, it has excellent beneficial properties for skin and hair.

The root contains:


*40 compounds of anthraquinone glycosides: coloring pigments, among which we find in great quantity the rubiadina. A water-soluble substance with healing properties.
Useful for scars and stretch marks.


*20 compounds of naphthoquinones deriving from naphthalene.


*Vitamins K are water-soluble substances that play an important role in blood coagulation.
According to the Ayurvedic Medicine, the Manjistha purifies the blood.
Activate the circulation from the bulb favoring the growth of the hair.
Reduces bags and dark circles.

*30 hexapeptides antifungal and antibiotic substances.

​

*10 triterpenoids substances with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-aging properties.

​

*Plant Sterol similar to cholesterol. It has dermophilic and emollient properties.
It stimulates the follicles blocking hair loss.

​

*Phenolic acids with antioxidant properties.


*Saturated fatty acids nourish skin and hair.
